THE PRESIDENT: LYNDON B. JOHNSON is the true story of U.S. President Lyndon Baines Johnson. After the powerful Senate Majority Leader Lyndon Johnson loses the 1960 Democratic presidential no­mination to Senator John F. Kennedy, he agrees to be his young rival’s running mate. Soon, however, Johnson finds himself sidelined in the role of vice president. This change when Kennedy is assassinated, and Johnson is suddenly thrust into the presiden­cy. Surrounded by enemies, and with a mourning nation divided, Johnson has one chance to resurrect his political life and honor JFK’s legacy by championing the historic Civil Rights Act of 1964.
