“Maggie is an uptight, newly single mother who teaches college writing courses in New York City. After her rebellious teenage daughter, Summer, gets arrested, she decides they should spontaneously take a trip to Italy. Upon arrival, Maggie runs into an old flame from twenty years ago, the handsome and effervescent Luca. Luca, a bachelor, lives with his eighty-year-old mother, Carmen, a sly old woman who wishes to go to Rome against her son’s will. Waiting in Rome is Marcelino, her true love. Summer repeatedly expresses her reluctance and expresses her desire to go home. She needs to bail her boyfriend, Tyler, out of jail. Maggie decides to secretly discard her daughter’s cell phone, thinking she won’t be caught. Sure enough, Summer throws a fit. During an intimate moment between Maggie and Luca in his workshop, Summer and Carmen impulsively steal Luca’s car and head to Rome. Maggie and Luca quickly pursue. What follows is a crazy scenic road trip through the beautiful countryside of Italy, allowing the two mismatched couples to spend time with and understand each other.”
